Carlsbad Caverns

White City, a little tourist stop outside the boundaries of Carlsbad National Park. Allison, Rob, and Marty waiting outside the Cavern entrance for dusk -- to watch several hundred thousand bats emerge for their night's hunting. We have no pictures of the bats, as we didn't want to annoy them with our flash. They were great.
And now cavern pictures -- they speak for themselves.
We walked from the Natural Entrance to the Big Room and took the walk around the Big Room. Those are the two unguided, walking cave trips available. I don't know how much more spectacular the real spelunking expeditions are, but none of us were about to crawl through the narrow passages of the Carlsbad to find out. The caves, by the way, were splendidly comfortable after the time we spent in the Southwest heat.

On to Roswell, New Mexico, land of little green men
