1953 Fords

I've ended up with a number of these, built from the Lindberg 1953 Ford hardtop and convertible (Indie Pace Car) kits. I built 'Boxcars,' in the junkyard, with a bit of a different purpose than the rest of the collection. I built it quite specifically to illustrate my short story, "Boxcars." One of my discoveries from that exercise is that it is much easier to build a convincing looking junk vehicle than a detailed showroom-fresh model. So I'm afraid I don't tend to be highly impressed by modelers who work to make their results 'grubby,' perhaps for the same reason I was never impressed, as a kid, by those who felt like they had attained something by using the 'custom' parts in their plastic kits or by gluing every available gadget, widget, or piece of idle plastic possible onto their vehicles. The Lindberg 1953 Ford kits are nice -- excellent detail, including the chrome strips with which every manufacturer decorated their cars (in excess) in the '50s. They're a pleasure to assemble (enough detail for a bit of challenge; no problems with fits, construction, or figuring out how to hold parts in awkward positions until the glue sets). '53 Ford
