The thing I love most about those old cars from my childhood might be the bright colors. Cars weren't dark metallic blues and grays and the like with far too many blacks and whites. Cars were pale blue and turquoise and bright green and multi-colored. Colorful cars came in more colors than red. I found an appropriate aqua for this two-tone '55 Chevy BelAire, made from the Monogram kit. The kit is highly detailed, including the chromed side trim which adds a bit more sparkle than the silver paint I would have had to use. It joined the phone truck as my "I'm on vacation" projects for this year, and I ended up quite happy with both. |
