1955 Fords

This 1955 Ford has a Hendrix resin body and grill with the unincluded parts from the AMT 1956 Ford kit. While the designs for the car years are very similar, I'll note a deviation from authenticity under the hood. The 1955 would have come with a generator and a 6-volt battery (I know this because I remember when the generator on my Dad's 1955 Ford, then about ten years old, went out -- leaving the car stopped on the highway). The 1956 Fords had an alternator and a 12-volt electrical system. The blue is my little tribute to that car of his, but his wasn't a two-tone. He drove, for nine years (purchasing the car when it was a year old), one of the least expensive cars Ford made. His was a uniform pale blue, had no chrome trim, and did not even have a radio.

The yellow and black two-tone was popular for Ford Victorias in 1955. I remember a neighbor driving one in those colors for some years. This car is actually the AMT 1956 body (you can tell by the chrome width and the hood ornament). I used a 1955 chrome grill and bumper sold by Modelhaus to create this close-enough approximation. I created the tinted sunroof by the very careful application of clear-coat blue paint to the included clear part.
